More About Reiki

When I bring up Reiki to people, occasionally I get silly looks. When energy work comes into play - confusion crosses many faces. This to me is understandable, as I was once the person making the silly face. Reiki was discovered by Dr. Usui in 1922 (below shows the list of my lineage and where I fall below Usui).

A little bit about my experience, Chakras & more!

The first time I received Reiki - I’ll be honest I didn’t feel anything. I wanted to understand it so badly. Something pulled me back to have more sessions. Every session after the first I opened up more and more. With that I began to feel more and more. When I entered into this space of energy work before I was attuned, I had a chronic stuffy nose (if you know me, you know this). It took time and more than just 1 session but after a year of work my stuffy nose has significantly decreased. I used to take allergy medicine every single day no matter what the season, even with the medicine I would sneeze and blow my nose constantly. Now, I only have to take it on occasion. As I started seeing this shift within myself I no longer had to question whether or not Reiki was ‘real’. I was a living breathing example of the realness!

Regardless of whether or not you feel anything when receiving Reiki, you’re still being sent prana (vital life force energy) - call it ‘good’ energy for an easier understanding. We all have prana flowing within us at all times but the more we can cultivate the better!

All ailments you feel on your physical body (from leg pain, to headaches to fear and sadness & so on) began in your metaphysical body within your Chakras. Reiki will send prana to the spaces where you may be feeling pain to heal these ailments. Chakras are a big piece of the puzzle when talking about Reiki and the conversation about chakras can go on and on as there’s SO much to learn so I’m not going to get too deep into them in this post but I’ll provide a little foundation.

You have 7 Chakras in your metaphysical body. Starting at the top of your head is your Crown Chakra (Sahasrara), Third Eye (Ajna), Throat (Visuddha), Heart (Anahata), Solar Plexus (Manipura), Sacral (Svadhisthana) and Root (Muladhara). Each one of your chakras is associated with a different aspect of your life and what you may be feeling. For example, if you’ve been experiencing pain in your feet and ankles it’s likely that your Root Chakra is causing you some difficulty. Some Root Chakra basics are survival, money, safety, tribe (family, organizational involvement). When you come into your session I will be able to assess these areas and send prana to them.

My goal is to make you feel as comfortable as possible so all you have to do is relax and receive. Any questions you may have I’m always available to answer, I’ve listed some common questions below that may help!

Common Questions -

Do I need to have an ailment to receive Reiki? No, everyone can benefit from Reiki!

Do I need to do anything while receiving Reiki? No, all you have to do is relax and receive the benefits.

Do you need to know anything about Reiki to receive Reiki? No! And if you have any questions I’m more than happy to answer them!

What are you doing to me when giving Reiki? Hovering my hands over your body and sometimes will apply light pressure.

What will I feel when receiving Reiki? Regardless of whether or not I use physical touch or hover my hands you may feel pressure. You may also become sleepy and fall asleep (don’t feel weird about this it’s completely normal).
